After 5-month wait, BioNTech reveals Sobi CEO will take top job
BioNTech has appointed Guido Oelkers, the CEO of Swedish pharmaceutical company Sobi since 2017, as its next chief executive. Oelkers is expected to start by February 1, 2027, following the planned departure of co-founders Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci to launch a new mRNA-focused company. He will oversee BioNTech's strategy to become a fully integrated immunotherapy company, including development of trastuzumab pamirtecan, gotistobart and pumitamig, while targeting multiple approved products by 2030. The search for a new chief medical officer remains ongoing.
