The coroner recorded a narrative conclusion.

I've been trapped inside for a decade and doctors can do no more because of my headaches
Elliot Webb, 24, from Sedgley in the West Midlands, has spent roughly a decade largely confined indoors because severe headaches, vomiting and low intracranial pressure prevent him from standing for more than about an hour a day. Diagnosed as a teenager with Chiari malformation and syringomyelia, he underwent surgery but says his symptoms quickly returned. His family claims repeated hospital visits and investigations failed to identify a suspected cerebrospinal fluid leak, including an MRI performed without contrast dye that had been recommended by a specialist. Elliot says the illness caused him to miss school and exams, lose contact with friends and spend up to 23 hours a day in bed. After further investigations in 2026, his neurosurgeon reportedly said there was little more the team could do. The hospitals involved reject suggestions that his care was inadequate, saying he received appropriate investigations and ongoing support. Elliot is fundraising £5,500 to consult a private CSF-leak specialist.

Experts note ongoing challenges with high installation costs but view the uplift as a meaningful step for vulnerable households facing energy insecurity.

Rachel Reeves tax plan could see certain state pensioners facing £200 reduction
Plans under consideration by the Treasury and the Department for Work and Pensions would automate income tax deductions from State Pension payments, potentially withholding around £200 per month for those receiving the full new pension. The proposal, resembling the PAYE system, aims to address the expected rise in pension amounts above the personal allowance due to the triple lock. The reported approach contrasts with earlier assurances from Chancellor Rachel Reeves that pensioners relying solely on the State Pension would neither file tax returns nor pay tax during the current Parliament. Both the Treasury and DWP declined to comment, and no final decision has been made.
