Hundreds of workers at Capenhurst nuclear site vote for strikes
More than 200 Urenco workers at the Capenhurst uranium-enrichment site have voted for strike action over pay, while more than 80% of eligible GMB members also backed industrial action. The unions cite Urenco’s reported €12.9 million half-year profit and say the company can afford to improve its offer. Urenco argues that its overall pay and benefits package is competitive, that pay awards have totaled 24.2% over the past three years, and that operations, safety and security will largely continue as normal.
