I’ve played 1,500 hours of Battlefield — here’s why Battlefield 4 is still the most essential entry in the series
After more than 1,500 hours across the Battlefield series, Jamie Richards argues that Battlefield 4 remains the franchise’s benchmark. Its large-scale combined-arms battles, class-based weapons, extensive maps and DLC, environmental destruction, and stronger geopolitical setting create a more strategic and varied experience than Battlefield 6, despite its older visuals and slower pace. Battlefield 6 is praised for its presentation and faster action but criticized for limited content, progression, map design, and less compelling fiction. The series should, in Richards’s view, prioritize the vehicle-and-infantry sandbox that distinguishes Battlefield from Call of Duty.
