Walberswick taxi driver attacked man outside Ipswich Tesco
Suffolk taxi driver Aiden Currey, 34, received a 14-month prison sentence suspended for two years after admitting to unlawfully wounding a man outside a Tesco store in Ipswich. Currey punched the victim three times during what prosecutors described as a revenge attack over suspicions involving Currey’s former partner, causing a broken nose, dental injuries and a lip wound requiring six stitches. He was also ordered to complete rehabilitation activities, unpaid work, a curfew, and £1,265 compensation, and was prohibited from contacting the victim for five years.

Alex Jacobs, 44, of Felixstowe, denies child sex offences
Alex Jacobs, 44, of Hamilton Road, Felixstowe, pleaded not guilty at Ipswich Crown Court to five alleged child sex offences, including assault and sexual assault of a child under 13 and three charges involving indecent images of children. The alleged offences took place between January 2019 and August 2024. His four-day trial is scheduled to begin on October 2, 2028, because of the criminal justice system backlog, with a pre-trial review set for August 23, 2028. He remains on conditional bail.

Thief who stole five Suffolk dogs and jewellery jailed
Luke Wall received a two‑year sentence for burglaries in Coney Weston and Walsham‑le‑Willows, where five dogs and £22,000 of jewellery were stolen and a cancer‑recovering victim’s home was ransacked. One adult dog and two puppies were recovered. Wall admitted one burglary, had previous burglary convictions, and expressed remorse, with his lawyer citing mental health issues and drug use.

Aldeburgh ice cream robbery accused to go on trial this year
A man from Saxmundham is scheduled for trial later in the year on charges stemming from an alleged robbery of an ice cream vendor in Aldeburgh.
