New ‘game-changer’ tests for endometriosis given green light on NHS
New NHS-approved tests, EndoSure and Endotest, are expected to significantly reduce the average nine-year wait for endometriosis diagnosis in the UK. NICE has recommended their use for an initial three-year period to gather further evidence. The technologies use non-invasive methods, including saliva-based microRNA detection and abdominal electrical signal measurement. A third test, DotEndo, requires additional research before approval. Experts highlight the potential for earlier identification and treatment, while patient testimony underscores the profound impact quicker diagnosis can have on quality of life.
