Slugs will stop eating your plants if you add kitchen scrap to soil
Gardeners are advised to use natural methods to protect vegetables and strawberries from slugs, including scattering broken eggshells around plants and setting traps made from hollowed citrus skins or beer-filled jars. The Royal Horticultural Society recommends these techniques as effective alternatives to harmful slug pellets. A biological control, Nemaslug, uses nematodes that infect and kill slugs without posing risks to other wildlife.
