Peter Adamson, known for playing Len Fairclough in Coronation Street, experienced a career decline driven by alcoholism, disciplinary issues and a damaging paid interview, ultimately leading to his dismissal from the show in 1983. Although acquitted of indecent assault charges, his reputation never recovered, and he later faced bankruptcy and financial hardship. After returning from Canada, he lived in rented accommodation in Bury, relied on benefits and took occasional acting roles before dying reclusive and penniless in 2002, survived by two sons.
