Kannapolis Police Charge Three People in 2024 Christmas Homicide
Kannapolis police charged Justin Javan Roberts in connection with the December 2024 shooting death of Angelo Markantonakis during a home invasion. Roberts was arrested in Charlotte and faces charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Two other suspects, Deonandre Isaiah Potts and Antonio Martez Woodard, are incarcerated in California and await extradition to North Carolina. The United States Marshals Service helped locate the suspects, while a $25,000 reward had previously been offered for information leading to an arrest.

Salisbury Alerts Residents to Multi-Week Neighborhood Asphalt Construction
Salisbury Public Works will resurface asphalt on roads in several residential neighborhoods over two to three weeks beginning August 17. Residents must remove vehicles from affected streets or risk towing, while homes will remain accessible with possible construction-related delays. The work covers areas near Jake Alexander Boulevard, South Main Street, the Mid-Carolina Regional Airport, Faith Road and East Innes Street.

Flood of Support: K-Town Family Seeks Community Support Amid Health Struggles
Bill Flood of Kannapolis, North Carolina, is unable to work after being diagnosed with diastolic heart failure, kidney failure and pulmonary hypertension. His wife, Leah, is working long shifts while the family awaits disability assistance, and relatives are helping care for Bill and manage his medical and living expenses. Despite their financial strain, the Floods followed through on a commitment to take in a 16-year-old child from an orphanage. Their son Hunter created a GoFundMe campaign, which had raised $3,200 as the family sought additional community support.
