James and Taylor Wilson say they have spent a year in a Southampton council flat affected by worsening leaks, mould and water damage in the bathroom, kitchen and hallway. James Wilson said hospital staff found mould particles during his treatment for double pneumonia and a collapsed lung, while Taylor said the conditions have been particularly difficult because of his autism and anxiety. The couple rejected a council-offered hotel as unsuitable, and the council said it would arrange alternative accommodation before carrying out permanent repairs and apologised for the disruption.
