A family fun day and fine food and craft fair will be held at Stuart Hall Estate in Stewartstown on August 29 alongside the 2026 Irish National Sheepdog Trials. The event will feature local producers, crafts, independent traders, vintage vehicles, children’s entertainment and demonstrations by leading sheepdog handlers, celebrating Mid-Ulster’s rural traditions and community life.

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise is using a Rider Performance Hub at its Enniskillen campus to support equine education and rider development. The centre combines Racewood riding simulators, sport science, conditioning equipment and expert coaching to help riders improve balance, posture, coordination, fitness and riding accuracy. It serves students, novice riders, competitive riders and equestrian professionals through courses, workshops and continuing professional development, with future programmes planned in rider performance, coaching, fitness and technology.

A £175,000 resurfacing project on the B0080 Tattymoyle Road in Fintona will run from July 27 to August 1, covering a 545‑metre stretch between Rahony Road and Moneygar Road. Infrastructure minister Liz Kimmins highlighted the investment’s benefits for residents and businesses. A road closure and diversions will be in place, with delays expected, while local access will be maintained.

Students from CAFRE’s Enniskillen campus completed a four-day study tour in Belgium, gaining practical experience across leading equine facilities including Azelhof Arena, Equitom Equine Clinic, Ashford Farm, Stal de Muze and Stephex Stables. The trip, supported by several industry-funded travel bursaries, exposed participants to advanced diagnostics, elite training, breeding technologies and international equine operations. The programme helped students develop industry skills, cultural awareness and clearer insights into global equine career opportunities.
