Jeffrey Puente García is a Cuban filmmaker recognized for his documentary work. Born in Marianao and raised in Candelaria, Pinar del Río, he developed an early passion for the arts and communication. He graduated from the National School of Arts (ENA) with a specialization in Theatrical Directing and later studied Directing at the Faculty of Audiovisual Media Arts (FAMCA) of the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) in Cuba. He also attended scriptwriting and filmmaking workshops and taught dramaturgy.
In Cuba, he directed a trilogy of documentaries on religious and community life in his hometown: 25 Kilómetros (2005), 72 Horas (2006), and Para subir al cielo (2007), all of which gained recognition at festivals inside and outside the island for their depth and sensitivity.
Over a decade ago, Puente García moved to the United States, first to Key West and later to Miami, where he co-founded with Sergio Valens the project Voces de Cuba, a series of interviews and reports amplifying the voices of exiled Cubans and activists fighting for democratization. The self-funded project has produced more than 52 episodes to date.
Throughout his career, Puente García has shown an unwavering commitment to documenting and sharing stories that highlight the cultural and spiritual richness of Cuban communities both inside and outside the island.

Voces de Cuba Voces de Cuba is an audiovisual project dedicated to preserving the historical memory of Cuba through in-depth testimonies. Since 2014, it has recorded the voices of victims and witnesses of the Cuban communist regime—political prisoners, exiles, activists, and ordinary citizens—who share their personal experiences of repression, resistance, and survival. By capturing these stories with cinematic quality, the project seeks to safeguard a truthful record for future generations, promote civic awareness, and give international visibility to the struggle for freedom and dignity in Cuba.

25 KM (2005) This documentary follows sisters María Dolores and María de los Ángeles Domínguez as they walk 25 kilometers each week from their remote village of El Brujo to Candelaria to attend mass. Part of a trilogy by Jeffrey Puente García (72 Hrs, Para subir al cielo), it reflects the perseverance of rural Catholic communities in Cuba. At its core is Father Yvan Bergeron, a Quebec missionary who served in Candelaria for decades. More than a simple pilgrimage, 25 KM portrays faith, dignity, and resilience in the Domínguez-Martínez family, especially their mother Milagros Díaz, who strives to preserve tradition and spirituality amid hardship and isolation.
