This is a Kiswahili News feature for Radio.Its about environmental conservation with emphasis to the Tamarind tree, a tropical tree that grows naturally in the hills of Baringo County.The tree is held in high esteem by the old folk due to the fact that it helped save lives in the regions during one historical drought season ,a drought that threatened to wipe out an entire Tugen generation in the year 1965.Food scarcity was accompanied by the death of livestock in thousands and locals engaged in barter trade,giving away the tamarind fruit in exchange of maize flour to some Indian merchants camping within Baringo shortly after Kenya attained her independence from her colonial master,Britain.
