Jesper Siegfried Enerstvedt (born 1967) is a Norwegian author. He was educated at the School of Journalism in Oslo. Enerstvedt is the editor of the online newspaper ****.
Life and work
Enerstvedt writes crime novels rich in factual information.
Enerstvedt's first novel, Anton, was published in 2013. The book was compared by the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv to Jack Kerouac's On the Road. His second novel, Norsk suppe ("Norwegian Soup"), shows how money from the Congo in Africa flowed into Norway and laid the foundation for the Norwegian industrial success story Orkla. Norsk suppe is a reckoning with entrenched Norwegian attitudes, written with humor and sharp jabs.
Kodenavn ROC ("Codename ROC"), his third novel, published in 2018, focuses on the role of Norwegian intelligence services in perhaps the CIA's boldest operation ever — "Operation Paper."
In 2019, Enerstvedt's fourth novel, Kaos i kosmos ("Chaos in the Cosmos"), was published — a dark comedy about a boy and his grandfather taking on dangerous terrorists.
Enerstvedt's fifth novel, Slett ingen kunst ("No Art at All" / "Hardly Art"), is about forged art.
The novels Norsk Suppe and Kodenavn ROC have both been purchased by the Norwegian Arts Council (Norsk Kulturråd) and are available for loan at most Norwegian libraries.[1] The books form a trilogy of standalone novels in which Enerstvedt explores more recent Norwegian history: Norsk Suppe (1850–1900), Slett ingen kunst (1900–1950), and Kodenavn ROC (1950–2000).
Enerstvedt is editor of the online newspaper "motparten", a Norwegian digital newspaper established in 2021. The paper celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2026.
