An engaged Italian couple died after falling 330 feet during a tandem bungee jump from the Ponte Canale bridge near Terni when the snap-hooks securing their cord failed. The pair had asked the facility manager to stay open later to allow them to jump. Police focused their investigation on the safety harness and clips, noting the cord itself remained intact and that previous jumps that day had been successful.
