Palestine Action terror ban challenge to go to Supreme Court as 117 arrested
Huda Ammori, co-founder of Palestine Action, has secured permission to appeal the group’s designation as a terrorist organization to the UK Supreme Court. The appeal will examine whether former home secretary Yvette Cooper incorrectly applied her policy, while challenges based directly on freedom of expression and association were rejected. The case is expected to be heard between October and December. Separately, police arrested 117 people at a Westminster protest for allegedly expressing support for the proscribed group. More than 2,000 related cases were adjourned until October 26, prompting complaints about costly travel, confusion and inadequate communication from the courts.
