Great Holland fire sees 100 tonnes of waste go up in flames
A fire at an industrial unit on Clacton Road in Great Holland burned more than 100 tonnes of domestic waste, prompting a multi-crew response from Essex Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby fields during a period of heightened wildfire risk due to hot, dry weather. The service reported responding to multiple large field fires in the preceding days and urged residents to help prevent wildfires by avoiding ignition risks and reporting incidents quickly to protect rural communities, crops and farmland.
