Prestatyn Fflecsi service adds new electric minibus
Prestatyn’s Fflecsi demand-responsive bus service has introduced a new electric minibus, rebranded as route 44, operating between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Denbighshire County Council and Transport for Wales secured the vehicle after the previous operator’s contract ended. The eight-seat, wheelchair-accessible Ford E-Transit has a range of up to 250 miles and is expected to reduce emissions and operating costs. Residents can book trips by phone or through the Transport for Wales app.

Wildfires devastate Welsh countryside as farms suffer losses
Wildfires in North and South Wales have damaged farmland, habitats and livestock, including an estimated 951 hectares burned in the Rhinogydd mountains and more than 220 hectares in Blaenavon. CLA Cymru says prolonged heat, dry conditions and drought have intensified the fires, leaving farmers facing lost grazing land, depleted winter feed and substantial emotional and financial costs. The organization is calling on the Welsh Government to provide targeted recovery support, habitat restoration resources, compensation where appropriate, and improved land-management and grazing strategies to reduce future risks.

New alcohol licence sought by Prestatyn holiday park
Lyons Holiday Parks Limited has applied for a premises licence for Autograph at Lido Beach Holiday Park in Prestatyn. If approved, the licence would allow alcohol sales on and off the premises, regulated entertainment and late-night refreshments from 9am to 1am daily. Denbighshire County Council is accepting written comments on the application until August 10.

The latest food hygiene inspections in Rhyl and surrounding areas awarded five-star “Very Good” ratings to B&M Retail Ltd., Barratts Restaurant, Bod Erw Hotel, Meelava, North Wales Bowls Centre, Silvers Cafe and St Kentigern Day Hospice. Ratings assess facility cleanliness, food safety management procedures and hygienic food handling, and businesses may be reinspected before the next roundup.

Free DJ Nights Coming to Rhyl 1891 Terrace This August
1891 Terrace in Rhyl will host four free DJ nights from 4pm to 9pm on August 8, 14, 28 and 29. Organized by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, the events will feature dance anthems, classic hits and other popular music, with no booking required. Guests can also access special food and drink offers, including pizza with prosecco, pitchers and Summer Spritz cocktails.

Wales & West Utilities Gives Update Over Project in St Asaph
Wales & West Utilities is upgrading gas infrastructure in St Asaph as part of a more than £6.8 million programme covering over 42 kilometres of gas pipes across north Wales. Work began earlier in the month and is expected to finish in October. A temporary one-way system will support works on The Roe from July 28 to August 19, following completion of work in the High Street area. The project is being coordinated with Denbighshire County Council and is intended to create a more resilient network capable of transporting greener gases in the future.
