Ten women told the BBC that Jared Leto engaged in sexually inappropriate or abusive behavior toward them between 2002 and 2016, when several were teenagers. Four women describe alleged criminal conduct, including sexual assault, sex with a minor, threats of sexual violence and explicit calls, while others report similar calls and inappropriate backstage encounters. The BBC says it corroborated several accounts through friends, relatives, photographs and messages, and obtained a confidentiality agreement allegedly sent to one woman. Former members of Leto’s team describe discomfort with the way young women were recruited and brought to backstage areas or private residences. Leto initially did not respond to the BBC’s questions but later denied all accusations, calling them categorically false.
