NHS Forth Valley admit personal details of 150 women shared in data breach
A serious data breach at NHS Forth Valley led to sensitive information about around 150 women being downloaded and emailed to a staff member’s personal account. The affected patients, all connected to maternity services at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, were notified, and an internal investigation has begun. The staff member reportedly claimed the data was used for analytical purposes, though concerns remain about whether copies were shared. NHS Forth Valley stated that most of the data was unidentifiable and that the employee has deleted the spreadsheet. The incident has been reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is conducting enquiries, while questions remain about disciplinary actions and police involvement.
