How my near-death experience led to a career in comedy
After surviving a brain haemorrhage, Russ Lee decided to pursue stand‑up comedy and has since performed more than 200 shows across the UK. His early success led him to develop his crowd‑focused comedic style, supported by his wife as they travel in a camper van for gigs. A recent skin cancer diagnosis has forced him to pause some performances, but he continues planning a charity comedy event for the mental‑health organisation Summits Up. He credits his recovery, family and friends for giving him the motivation to continue performing and supporting others.
