Coronation Street viewers reacted with surprise after learning that Anya Dewin, who plays newcomer Lucy Parkinson, is 18. Dewin joined the soap after completing Year 13 and plays the daughter of imprisoned character Richie, whose wife Rachel was found dead. Lucy is now living with Tim and Sally Metcalfe and has begun experiencing difficulties, including a confrontation with Joanie Michaelis. Cast member Tony Maudsley publicly welcomed Dewin and congratulated her on completing her A-levels.
