York Size? store closure details emerge after plans approved
York’s Size? store in St Sampson’s Square is expected to close during the week beginning September 14, after staff were informed and owner JD Group declined to comment. City of York Council has approved the conversion of the premises into a Joe & The Juice outlet with seating for 65 people, serving juices, shakes, coffee and sandwiches. The conversion requires only a certificate of lawfulness because it falls within the same use class as the existing fashion store. The redevelopment is presented as supporting employment and the city-centre regeneration, while Joe & The Juice has not responded to requests for comment.

York 5G Mast in Nether Poppleton: Cornerstone Plans Approved
City of York Council has approved Cornerstone's plans to replace an existing 28.6-metre telecommunications mast in Broad Lane, Nether Poppleton, with a 30-metre lattice mast carrying six antennas and two dishes. The replacement is intended to improve 2G, 3G and 4G coverage and introduce 5G connectivity for people living, working and travelling in the area. Planning officers concluded that the similar replacement structure would not harm the appearance of the site or its surroundings, and no objections were submitted.

York McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Fraser Group change backed
City of York Council has approved plans to replace four signs and add two totems at York’s McArthurGlen Designer Outlet with Frasers Group branding following the site’s acquisition from Aviva Investors. The illuminated Frasers Plus signs will be installed at the outlet’s entrances, with planning officers concluding that they would not harm public amenity, safety or the surrounding visual environment. Frasers Group, owned by Mike Ashley’s retail empire, also acquired the East Midlands Designer Outlet, while McArthurGlen’s York manager said the takeover was not expected to affect day-to-day operations.
