Suspected Irish gang boss charged with directing organised crime group
Daniel Kinahan has been extradited from Dubai to Ireland and charged in Dublin’s Special Criminal Court with directing the activities of a criminal organisation between October 18, 2015 and April 6, 2017. He was arrested after arriving at Baldonnel aboard an Irish government aircraft, appeared under heavy security, and was remanded in custody until October 5. The extradition followed a formal Irish request and a final ruling by the Dubai Court of Cassation, with justice ministers from both countries citing the case as evidence of international cooperation and commitment to the rule of law.

Three taken to hospital as girl, 9, dies in Arbroath and man arrested
A nine-year-old girl died after being found seriously injured at Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath. Three other people, understood to be family members, were taken to Ninewells Hospital and later discharged, while a 35-year-old man who was arrested separately was also released after hospital treatment. Police Scotland are treating the death as suspicious, say the girl and man knew each other, and are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case. The girl's family, from West Yorkshire, had been camping nearby, and a police cordon and forensic investigation remain in place.

Ryanair flight declares 'low fuel' fuel emergency amid major airport chaos
A Ryanair flight from Seville to Nantes declared a fuel emergency after being forced into a holding pattern when a departing aircraft suffered an engine failure and blocked the runway. With fuel levels dropping, the crew diverted to Brest, landing safely with reserves remaining. Nantes Airport halted operations for four hours while debris was cleared from the runway. Ryanair stated the diversion was due to the unexpected closure and confirmed the aircraft met all regulatory fuel requirements before passengers continued to Nantes later that night.
