Man sold 'knock-off' parts purporting to be from Mercedes
Chaudhry Saeed, a supermarket worker from Halifax, admitted selling more than 2,000 counterfeit car parts imported from China and falsely presenting them as products from manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. After test purchases by car-company experts led to a police raid, he was convicted of fraud by false representation, possessing articles for use in fraud and possessing criminal property. Bradford Crown Court suspended his 12-month prison sentence for 18 months and ordered him to complete 200 hours of unpaid work; a later proceeds hearing may require repayment of criminal gains. Police and the judge warned that counterfeit safety-critical parts could cause serious accidents and harm legitimate manufacturers.

Robbers dressed as police officers in raid at Bradford jewellery shop
Two men who impersonated police officers to rob Chacha Jewellers in Bradford were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court. Jamie Beardshaw received ten years and eight months for leading the robbery, while accomplice John Smith was jailed for four years. CCTV showed the pair attempting to handcuff staff before an alarm was triggered, with another gang member stealing a tray of gold rings valued at about £10,000. Defence arguments highlighted Beardshaw’s intoxication and Smith’s neurodivergent conditions, but the judge concluded both played active roles in a planned commercial robbery aggravated by their use of police clothing.
