Bronte Society voices objections to windfarm proposals
The Bronte Society objected to plans by Calderdale Energy Park to install 34 wind turbines on Walshaw Moor, arguing that the proposal fails to assess its impact on Bronte-related heritage. The society stressed the cultural importance of the moorland between Haworth and Hebden Bridge and disputed claims in the project’s environmental report that effects on the landscape would be minor. Campaigners also raised concerns about peatland damage and loss of moorland habitat. Energy Secretary Ed Miliband will decide whether the proposal proceeds.
