The first Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann held in Belfast is concluding after a week of traditional Irish music, cultural events and All-Ireland competitions involving more than 5,000 musicians and dancers from 22 countries. Visitor numbers are expected to exceed one million, with the Department for Infrastructure forecasting an economic boost greater than its original £53 million estimate. Political leaders from across Ireland and Northern Ireland attended, while the final day will feature the Senior Céilí Bands competition and a procession through Belfast. Although the festival formally ends on Sunday, related traditional music events will continue, and attention is already turning to its return in 2027.
