8-mile walk from Austwick offers breathtaking views
Jonathan Smith describes an approximately eight-mile circular walk from Austwick through the Yorkshire Dales, including the Norber Erratics, Moughton Scars and the limestone pavements of Ingleborough Nature Reserve. The route offers views toward Penyghent and passes through Crummack and Wharfe before returning to Austwick. It involves around 340 metres of ascent and is rated medium to hard because of uneven, potentially slippery limestone. Walkers are advised to carry appropriate maps and a compass, wear suitable clothing and footwear, follow the Countryside Code and accept responsibility for their own safety.
