Reworking the National Curriculum
Jonathan Wolff humorously proposes redesigning the national curriculum around three Ds: drama, design and daydreaming. He argues that problem-based, practical learning would develop teamwork, creativity, technical skills and broader understanding more effectively than exam-focused recitation. Drama and design could integrate writing, science, mathematics, engineering and information technology, while daydreaming would encourage unconstrained critical and imaginative thinking. He acknowledges challenges including the need for more teachers, collaboration between pupils and appropriate assessment, but argues that engineering and creativity should receive a more central role in British education.
