Most drivers would rather take the scenic route than the fastest
A poll of 2,000 UK drivers found that three quarters would choose a scenic route over the fastest option for a staycation, with drivers willing to add an average of 41 minutes for better views. Many respondents said motorways make road trips boring, but limited planning time and overreliance on sat-navs prevent them from discovering alternative routes. The survey, commissioned by temporary insurance provider Tempcover, also found that scenic routes can take a similar or shorter time than motorways by avoiding congestion. Tempcover has launched a tool for finding scenic routes and suggested stopping points, while respondents highlighted countryside, coastal roads, the Scottish Highlands and other UK landmarks as favorite destinations.

Foreign crisps are one of holidaymakers' best things about going away
A survey of 2,000 UK adults shows strong enthusiasm for trying foreign crisp flavours while travelling, with many citing unusual varieties as a highlight of holidays. Spain, Italy and France are viewed as offering the best options, prompting travel firm loveholidays to open a Soho pop‑up featuring international crisps. Crisp enthusiast Joe Manning took part in a taste‑testing challenge at the event, highlighting popular flavours such as Lays, Ruffles and Doritos. The research also found travellers often eat more crisps abroad and frequently bring bags home as souvenirs.
