Clubbing brand plans to turn Yorkshire hairdressers into record store and bar
Sheffield-based jungle, drum and bass brand Unity Underground has applied for a licence to open a record shop and bar in a former hairdresser’s premises on Ecclesall Road. The proposed venue would play recorded music and sell alcohol, with opening hours extending to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The brand was co-founded in 2022 by DJs, promoters and producers King Chuga and RACH. Separately, Ecclesall Road shop Mr Blue has applied for an off-sales licence allowing it to sell alcohol from 6pm to 1am daily.

Sheffield Council Told to Look at Non-Green Belt Housing Land Options
Government inspectors have instructed Sheffield City Council to investigate six non-green belt sites as potential locations for housing and to reassess agricultural land using a new government tool. The recommendation follows controversy over the inclusion of green belt land in Sheffield’s Local Plan, which must accommodate 38,012 homes by 2039—3,539 more than previously proposed. The council must also address site access, boundaries, heritage and environmental wording before holding at least six weeks of further public consultation.
