ITV crime drama Professor T returns for its fourth series on 19 August 2026 after a nearly two-year break. The Cambridge-set series follows criminology professor Jasper Tempest, played by Ben Miller, as he resumes helping police solve complex crimes after the death of DS Lisa Donckers in the previous finale. With support from therapist Dr Helena Goldberg, Jasper investigates cases including a woman disappearing from a boat, a series of burglaries and an actress being stabbed on stage. New episodes will air weekly on ITV1 at 9pm and later become available on ITVX; a fifth series has already been filmed.

The BBC has confirmed that Stephen Merchant will guest star in the second series of Ludwig, the detective comedy set and filmed in Cambridge. Merchant will play Danny Sloane, an arrogant snooker champion who clashes with David Mitchell’s character, puzzle maker John, who has become involved in police investigations following his twin James’s disappearance. The series returns on BBC One on August 20, 2026, with its first three episodes also released on iPlayer, amid strong viewer praise for its mystery plots, cast and humor.

The BBC has released first-look images for the second series of Ludwig, the Cambridge-set detective comedy starring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin. The new episodes will follow puzzle-maker John Taylor as he works as a crime scene consultant for the Cambridge Police Authority while secretly continuing to investigate his missing twin brother James. Mark Bonnar and Sian Clifford join the cast, and the series is scheduled to return later in 2026 on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

The series follows Cambridge University criminology professor Jasper Tempest, whose obsessive-compulsive traits contrast with his exceptional crime-solving ability. Filmed partly in Cambridge, the show also stars Emma Naomi and Frances de la Tour. Three series have been released, while fourth and fifth seasons are in development; Miller has confirmed that filming on season five has finished.
