Gardeners told to scatter one bathroom item on grass for 'thicker and greener' lawns
Gardeners are advised to use Epsom salt to help dry, patchy summer lawns appear thicker and greener. The suggested method is to dissolve one tablespoon per litre of water and apply it in the morning or early evening, no more than once every six weeks and generally only once per season. Epsom salt is described as a magnesium source that may support chlorophyll production, photosynthesis and root growth, although it should supplement rather than replace fertiliser because excessive nutrients can damage soil.
