Former Corrie star John Thomson has not been paid for six months
Actor John Thomson says he has not secured a single acting job in six months, describing the current state of his career as “famine” after a busy 2025. He attributes the decline in opportunities partly to advertisers shifting from commercial broadcasters to subscription platforms, and says voiceover work is also becoming less available. Thomson is concerned that artificial intelligence could allow companies to purchase actors’ likenesses or voices for unrestricted use, and he has previously spoken about feeling disadvantaged by typecasting and changing casting preferences.
