Isle of Lewis farmer Ally Williamson described a previous breeding season as “pure heartbreak” and said it had brought him close to giving up. In a BBC episode of This Farming Life, he discussed improved lambing results, the challenges of caring for Blackface ewes and helping a first-time mother bond with her lamb. He was also looking after his teenage son Noah’s Herdwick flock while Noah focused on his exams.

‘Refreshing’ Scottish crime drama perfect for Midsomer Murders fans is on Netflix
The Scottish crime drama Annika, starring Nicola Walker as Glasgow Marine Homicide Unit detective Annika Strandhed, is now available on Netflix. The series is praised for its fourth-wall-breaking format, humor, writing, performances and Scottish scenery, and became Alibi’s most-watched drama in at least seven years. It ran for two series, but no third series was planned as of August 2025. The television adaptation moved the story from the Oslo setting of the original BBC Radio 4 drama to Glasgow, with filming also taking place around the River Clyde, Argyll and Loch Lomond.

'Heartbreaking' drama based on Scotland's devastating tragedy streaming soon
Netflix will release the six‑part series The Bombing of Pan Am 103 on July 30, depicting the 1988 Lockerbie disaster and the ensuing British and American investigations. Originally aired on BBC One in 2025, the drama stars Connor Swindells, Eddie Marsan and Patrick J Adams and has received praise from viewers for its sensitive, powerful reconstruction of events and portrayal of the complex multinational inquiry.

Wimbledon's Annabel Croft spoke of 'cruel' nurse during husband's death
Annabel Croft recalled a distressing encounter with a nurse who she says spoke cruelly to her dying husband, Mel Coleman, during his final hours following a rapid cancer decline. While praising most of the medical staff who cared for him, she criticised one nurse for speaking bluntly and mockingly about his imminent death, leaving the family traumatised.
