Residents evacuated as 125 firefighters called to 'serious' UK fire
A large fire in Walthamstow prompted the evacuation of residents as 20 fire engines and 125 firefighters responded to a blaze affecting a house, gardens, sheds and a railway embankment. Authorities advised nearby residents to keep windows closed due to heavy smoke, while road closures and partial suspension of the Weaver Overground railway line were put in place. Local MP Stella Creasy reported the fire stemmed from an electrical issue on train lines and urged people to avoid the area. Two rest centres were established for displaced residents as emergency services handled more than 100 calls related to the incident.

George Cottrell allegedly had access to Nigel Farage's emails and covered Reform UK costs without disclosure
Reports allege that George Cottrell covered office costs for Reform UK without declaring them to the Electoral Commission and had long-standing access to Nigel Farage’s party email account. Questions were raised about whether he was legally eligible to donate at the time, given his tax residency in Montenegro. Reform UK declined to clarify Cottrell’s role or access but insisted it had complied with donation rules, dismissing the scrutiny as media hostility ahead of the general election.
