Donald Trump to visit Clare during Irish Open next month with visit to Dublin also expected
Donald Trump is expected to visit Ireland on September 12–13 to attend the Irish Open at his Doonbeg Golf Resort in County Clare, with a possible meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Dublin. The trip is expected to require one of Ireland’s largest-ever security operations, code-named Operation Far Sunrise, and could draw major protests. Scheduling conflicts mean Trump is unlikely to attend the tournament’s opening, while it remains uncertain whether he will address either house of the Irish parliament or meet President Catherine Connolly. Ireland’s Labour Party says the country should not roll out the red carpet, citing Trump’s policies on international law, Iran, Israel and Palestine, Ukraine, Greenland, European politics and trade.
