Five who died in Co Kildare head-on crash were all teenage males in BMW driving on wrong side of motorway
Five teenage males died after a BMW travelling the wrong way on the M9 in County Kildare collided head-on with a Hyundai shortly after 3am. Three women and a seven-year-old child in the Hyundai, members of the same family travelling to Dublin Airport, were seriously or critically injured. Gardaí said the BMW had earlier failed to stop for officers, and Fiosrú is conducting an independent investigation because of the prior interaction. The motorway was closed during the forensic examination, while officials condemned dangerous driving and appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
