Senior international journalist and Brussels-based correspondent with over 20 years of experience covering EU institutions, NATO, and international security, with a strong focus on transatlantic relations and the EU’s Eastern neighbourhood. I have reported from the core of European and international decision-making, covering NATO summits, European Councils, and Foreign Affairs Councils, and conducting in-depth interviews with heads of state, EU commissioners, and NATO leadership. My work combines high-level political access with clear, analytical reporting on complex policy and security issues. In this video, I reflect on the immediate aftermath of the 2016 Brussels terrorist attacks. One image in particular — a man severely injured in the airport — remained with me long after the event. Driven by the ethical responsibility that can follow crisis reporting, I recount my determination to find him and understand what became of his life after the attack. The piece offers a rare insight into the conflict photography and the lasting impact such moments have on both subjects and journalists.
