Boulos: Benghazi and Tripoli Representatives Put Differences Aside for Libya’s Sake
US adviser Massad Boulos says representatives from eastern and western Libya are increasingly setting aside differences, citing agreements on a unified development program and budget and joint military participation in Sirte. He says Washington supports the UN road map and seeks an inclusive, Libyan-led political settlement rather than a process driven by rivalry with Russia or China. Boulos also rejects the view that energy supplies are the sole US priority, arguing that economic reform and fair resource distribution are essential to lasting peace. Leaked reports indicate a possible plan for Saddam Haftar to replace Mohamed al-Menfi as head of the Presidential Council while Abdulhamid Dbeibah remains prime minister of a unified government.
