A freedom of information request showed that 112 Vale of Glamorgan Council buildings, including 40 educational sites and multiple public facilities, contain asbestos. The council noted that the material poses minimal risk when intact and said it follows Health and Safety Executive guidance through inspections, monitoring and maintenance. One historical exposure claim against the council resulted in no settlement. The council stressed that identifying asbestos does not mean buildings are unsafe and reflects compliance with legal requirements.
