A partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK on 12 August 2026, with more than 90% of the Sun covered in many areas and peak viewing generally occurring between 6pm and 8pm. Teesside residents can use a postcode tool to identify the precise start and maximum coverage times. Clear skies are expected in much of England and Wales, although cloud could affect parts of the North East, Cumbria, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Viewers are warned never to look directly at the Sun without specialist eclipse glasses or suitable equipment; standard sunglasses are unsafe. The next UK eclipse of comparable significance is not expected until 2081.
