Yorkshire falls further behind London as A Level attainment gap grows
London achieved the highest share of top A Level grades in England, with 32.7% of entries receiving A or A*, compared with 25.7% in Yorkshire and the Humber and 28.5% nationally. Although Yorkshire’s results improved slightly, London’s faster progress widened the regional attainment gap. Bradford and Doncaster recorded notable gains after previous Opportunity Area funding, suggesting targeted intervention can help, while experts warned that persistent disparities by place and background reflect unequal educational and economic opportunities.
