Half of people avoid Leeds parks at certain times, new study finds
A major study of more than 3,000 residents in Leeds and Bradford shows that half avoid local parks at certain times due to concerns about crime, safety after dark, overcrowding, lack of toilets and feeling unwelcome. Researchers from the University of Leeds, working with local councils and community groups, recommend improving access, inclusion and responses to persistent issues such as litter, uncontrolled dogs and off‑road vehicle misuse. The findings will inform ongoing efforts to enhance safety, accessibility and community value in the region’s green spaces.
