'Unfair' UK visa rule blocks husband from visiting wife and daughter
Rachel Mackay, a Manchester mother, says UK visa rules have kept her South African husband, Kieyaamudien, from living with her and their eight-month-old daughter, Emersyn. His three visitor visa applications and one fiancé visa application were refused, citing doubts about his intention to leave the UK and the couple's financial circumstances. Mackay does not meet the £29,000 income threshold for a spouse visa, and the family says it has spent more than £7,000 on applications and related costs. Kieyaamudien now works seasonally in Spain, while the family relies on FaceTime and occasional visits. They are saving for another spouse visa application with legal support; the Home Office says applications are assessed individually under the Immigration Rules.
