A 31‑year‑old woman died after a large alligator attacked her while she was cooling off in shallow water along the Econlockhatchee River near Orlando. The alligator tore off one of her arms and severely injured the other as her boyfriend called emergency services. She died before reaching a hospital. Wildlife officials recovered two large alligators from the area for DNA testing to identify the attacker. The incident is one of several recent alligator attacks in central Florida, where the animals are reportedly more aggressive following the mating season.
