PIP claimants going abroad this year warned rules could stop payments
Personal Independence Payment claimants must notify the Department for Work and Pensions if they plan to travel abroad for more than four weeks, as doing so may affect their entitlement. Payments can usually continue for up to 13 weeks abroad, or 26 weeks if travelling for medical treatment. Short trips under four weeks generally do not need to be reported. Those moving abroad permanently lose eligibility for the mobility component but may still qualify for the daily living element under specific conditions tied to National Insurance and related benefits.
