Woman, 20, died after lethal cocaine dose as gran issues heartbreaking 'forever yours' tribute
Sophie Joanne Ashwood, 20, of Bodmin, died in her flat on October 3, 2025, after taking a lethal concentration of cocaine. Evidence at an inquest at Cornwall Coroners' Court showed cocaine levels in her bloodstream were nearly two and a half times the fatal threshold. The hearing examined her troubled childhood, time in foster care, mental-health difficulties, previous overdoses and reluctance to engage with mental-health services. Senior coroner Andrew Cox recorded acute cocaine toxicity as the medical cause of death and concluded that she died by suicide. Friends and her grandmother paid tribute to her warmth, humour and caring nature.
