British travellers to European destinations including Kos, Corfu and Faro have reported lengthy queues at passport control under the European Union’s Entry/Exit System, which collects biometric data and creates digital travel records for non-EU nationals. Passenger accounts describe delays of up to several hours, including queues outside Corfu Airport, while industry leaders are urging the EU to give airports greater flexibility to suspend the system during busy periods. easyJet chief executive Kenton Jarvis said initial school-holiday delays were better than feared but called for the flexibility to extend through the October half-term.
