William Mitchell sculpture removed during Coventry demolition
A Grade II-listed William Mitchell mural at Coventry's former Three Tuns pub has been removed during demolition for the City Centre South redevelopment. The roughly 30-tonne, double-sided artwork was cut into four sections after six months of planning and will be cleaned and stored temporarily. Developer Hill Group says it intends to restore the mural in a new setting with prominent walkways, while other Coventry public artworks are also being conserved. The nine-year, multimillion-pound project is expected to deliver more than 1,000 apartments, shops, food venues and entertainment spaces.

West Midlands mayor rules out bringing in Warwickshire
West Midlands mayor Richard Parker has ruled out expanding the West Midlands Combined Authority to include Warwickshire, saying the existing region is the right size for his priorities. He is nevertheless seeking closer cooperation with neighboring areas so Warwickshire can benefit from cross-border projects. Warwickshire’s current county, district and borough councils are expected to be replaced by two unitary authorities in 2028, while local leaders are encouraged to develop their own devolution proposals. Planned new funding and powers for metro mayors, including a potential share of national income tax, would not directly extend to Warwickshire.
